What is the Gustavus Annual Fund?

The Gustavus Annual Fund is made up of all the different fund contributions given to Gustavus by alumni, parents, students, and friends of the college. It enables the college to ensure continued quality in its core educational activities, and provides flexibility to respond creatively to new opportunities. Think of it as the check book for Gustavus. It helps to pay for student services, annual scholarships and tuition grants to name a few things.

Prior senior class gifts have also helped us! As other senior classes have given gifts, you have benefited. Remember the good times at the Dive? The 2002 graduating class made it possible by giving gifts so that the Dive could be renovated and enjoyed by you and me. Other gifts included renovations to Old Main, the Lighting of Ring Road, and many others dating back to 1900! Alumni back to the class of 1928 are still currently giving to benefit the students of Gustavus today.

Why is it important to continue giving?

Alumni provide significant moral and financial support for Gustavus. You may not know this, but tuition from students only covers 80% of what it takes to educate a student.

The rest of the money comes from people like you and me who are willing to make a sacrifice so future students can have the same opportunities we have had. Last year 6,000 alumni gave a gift to the College to help support us with our educations.
