PSI CHIThe International Honor Society in Psychology

Overview of PSI CHI

PSI CHI is the international honor society of psychology. Their mission is to “encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology” (PSI CHI, 2019). Members of PSI CHI also work to promote fellowship amongst members and professionals.

The local chapter fulfills these goals through:

  1. Attending PSI CHI meetings,
  2. Assisting with department events, and
  3. Serving as liaisons to psychology major-related discussions.

Throughout the year, members sponsor a number of social activities that are open to all major students. One of their more notable contributions per year are their arrangements to host discussion panels that, for instance, provide graduate school information to students.

Membership

Membership invitations are normally sent in the Spring semester and are guided by the following criteria:

  • Must hold at least a 3.0 Psychological Science GPA
  • Must have at least 4 courses in psychological science completed
  • Must be in the top 35% of department students
