Housing Selection Process

Return to Housing Selection main page

Students desiring to reside in a 2-person unit, "clustered" or linked to one or two additional 2-person units, in North Hall, Gibbs Hall, Sorensen Hall, Rundstrom Hall, Sohre or Uhler Hall must have two persons (per room) who will be present on-campus in St. Peter during Fall Term to apply. Students select room clusters as a group of 4 or 6 students. Students then designate roommate pairs for each room within the chosen clusters. A specific number of units are held for men and women during this process. The space held reflects the gender distribution of the campus population. The percentage of space held for each sex reflects the total gender distribution for the campus. Please see below for the number of room clusters and a list of room clusters available by building. Number of Room Clusters, North, Gibbs, Sorensen, Rundstrom, Sohre, Uhler.

NOTE: Rooms not listed below are offered during Two Person Unit Selection in early May

The RANGE OF DAYS for Room Cluster Unit selection will be April 25 through April 28 (7am until 12am-midnight).

On these days groups will submit their preferences for units via the Web based Housing Selection System. See Step By Step Process Overview for an overview of of the web-based system.

Housing Selection Web-based Process

Step by step instructions

  • Step One: The Online Housing Contract and Preference form will be available the first day of Spring semester.
  • Step Two: Complete the Housing Contract and Preference Form. You MUST submit it by February 18 to participate in the Housing Selection Process. Failure to complete and submit a completed form will bar you from participating.
  • Step Three: Go to the "Housing Profile" page to double check the information that DATATEL has for you. If you believe it is incorrect, please come to the Residential Life Office during walk-in hours to discuss this with Troy or Charlie. It is your responsiblity to validate your "Housing Profile " and come to Residential Life if you believe there are errors.
  • Step Four: Go to the Important Dates Page. This page identifies the RANGE OF DAYS to apply for specific types of housing.
  • Step Five: During the RANGE OF DAYS - remember, this is not a first-come, first served based process - one member of your group must go the website to enter your group's preferences. Failure to enter your group's preferemces during the designated RANGE OF DAYS will result in you NOT participating in that particular process. No extensions will be given. The screens explain the process steps. You will need the following information to complete the process:
    • Your Web-advisor user name and password.
    • ID numbers for each member of your group.
    • Listing of individual units in which you would like to live. You are asked to rank order 12 of these.
    • Listing of building in which you would prefer to live in the event you do not receive any of your individual units.
  • Step Six: 5-7 days after the closing of the web-site following the RANGE OF DAYS each group member will receive an e-mail indicating the room to which you were assigned.
