Alcohol and Drug InformationPresident's Message

Gustavus Adolphus College has always prized community, and aims to provide a safe and healthy environment for all members.

To this end and in compliance with federal law (The Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989), Gustavus Adolphus College has resources in place to prevent the illicit use of drugs and the abuse of alcohol by students and employees of Gustavus. We would like to update you on these resources, which includes the following:

  • Informing students and employees of the policies, laws and/or standards of conduct that clearly prohibit, at a minimum, the possession, use, or distribution of drugs and alcohol by students and employees on Gustavus Adolphus College’s premises or as any part of our college's activities except as permitted under Gustavus Adolphus College policies;
  • Notifying all students and employees of the sanctions for violating the standards of conduct consistent with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Informing students and employees of drug and alcohol counseling, treatment, or rehabilitation services that are available to them;
  • Providing all students and employees with information concerning the health risks associated with the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol;
  • Providing all students and employees with a description of the applicable legal sanctions under local, state, and federal law for unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol.

This website contains detailed information concerning the above items. Please review this information carefully. We want to be certain all students and employees know about this program and the resources available to all.

Sincerely,

President Bergman
