Description

Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a part-time, one-semester position of Instructor of the Practice (or Assistant Professor of the Practice with appropriate qualifications) in the Department of Business and Economics to begin January 1, 2027. The department anticipates a continued vacancy, and the successful candidate may be considered for continuation into the following academic year, contingent upon favorable review and the continuing needs of the College.

Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States. Gustavus will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position. Gustavus is not an e-verify institution.

Employment Type: Part-Time; $5,000 per 4-credit course (a total of $10,000 for two courses); Exempt (Salaried); In-Person Instruction

Prerequisites

Required Qualifications

  • MBA, MAcc, MBT, or equivalent, but we will consider candidates with significant professional experience (PhD or ABD preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, train, or mentor others
  • Ability to teach Managerial Finance and Investments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of effectiveness in teaching
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate students
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and identities
  • Prior experience in corporate finance, banking, investment management, financial planning, venture capital, private equity, financial analysis, entrepreneurship, or a related field

Position Overview

  • Teach 2 course sections in the 2027 spring semester. Primary teaching responsibilities will include Managerial Finance and Investments, although the final courses assigned will be determined based on the candidate’s preparation, interests, and departmental needs.
