Description
Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a part-time, two-semester Visiting Instructor position in the Department of Business and Economics to begin August 15, 2026. This is a unique opportunity to step out of your professional career and share your expertise with motivated undergraduate students at a leading liberal arts college.
Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States. Gustavus will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position. Gustavus is not an e-verify institution.
Employment Type: Part-Time; $5,000 per 4-credit course (a total of $15,000 for three courses with potential signing bonus for qualified applicants); Exempt (Salaried); In-Person Instruction
Position Overview
- Teach 3 course sections over the academic year. Teach one section of Audit in the Fall and two sections of Financial Accounting during the spring semester. Audit is a required upper-level course for Accounting Majors. Financial Accounting is a foundational requirement for business students. If there is mutual interest, there may be an opportunity for continued employment with flexibility in course assignments
- Responsibilities: Your role will go beyond the textbook. You'll use your real-world experience to bring accounting concepts to life, helping students understand the importance of financial reporting and analysis. The materials are available if preferred.
- Time Commitment: This is a part-time, in-person position for the nine-month academic year (August 15-May 14). Courses are typically either M-W-F or T-Th.

Prerequisites
What We’re Looking For
- A graduate degree (MBA, MAcc, MBT, or equivalent) is preferred, but we will consider candidates with significant professional experience in accounting.
- A current or prior professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFE) is required.
- A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a passion for working with students.
- Experience with innovative teaching strategies is a plus.
- Experience in working in public accounting.
