Hoffmann Learning Center
The mission of the Hoffmann Learning Center volunteer program is to build healthy relationships with adolescent males who are in treatment for problematic sexual behavior. These connections are built through the cultivation of a constructive learning environment and fostering growth in clients and volunteers.
On Wednesday evenings a small group of Gustie volunteers spend about an hour interacting with the clients at the Leo A. Hoffmann Center, a local holistic, residential treatment facility for male juvenile offenders. The group meets briefly at 6:30 PM in the Jackson Campus Center for an overview of the evening's lesson plan, before carpooling for about 5 minute ride to the treatment facility. While at the Hoffmann Center the group leads fun and engaging activities, games, and discussion which facilitates learning social skills, appropriate boundaries, and demonstrates healthy relationships. Volunteers take turns designing and leading activities and sessions.
