Description
Science fiction or fictional science? Footprints , which receives its American premiere in Anderson Theatre November 20-23, is a play about a possible future---a future of vanishing species, a future beset by terrorist cells, a future ruled by an Agency. The play is the brainchild of Vijay Padaki of Bangalore, India. A psychologist and behavioral scientist by training, Mr. Padaki is consultant to Vishtar, the organization that sponsors the Gustavus Indian Semester Abroad; he also is the founder-director of a management resource center that has programs of consultancy, research and training in the areas of organization and institutional development. Over the next week, Mr. Padaki will be visiting classes and attending rehearsals of Footprints, sharing with Gustavus his experience and insights not only into Indian theatre but also into the world-wide problems of poverty, ecological imbalance, and human consumption. On Friday, Nov. 21, Mr. Padaki will speak on Indian Theatre in Olin 102 at 4:30 p.m. Please join us for his talk and also for the "ecological thriller" Footprints---and pass the word to your students. Tickets are available at the Ticket Center. Following the Saturday night performance, there will be a brief discussion of the play with Mr. Padaki and the cast. Mr. Padaki's residency is supported by the Ethel and Edgar Johnson Fund.
