Announcement: Honoring Indigenous histories during November

Audience:Campus
Description

During the Thanksgiving holiday break, we can recognize Indigenous perspectives and history by sharing information and exploring possibilities for conversations.  To help get this started, here are some podcasts featuring accounts from Wampanoag and Narragansett peoples, who were directly affected by the historical events memorialized in the observation of the holiday:

The Wampanoag & the Thanksgiving Myth (35:25): https://www.unsunghistorypodcast.com/wampanoag/

The World of the Wampanoag, Part 1: Before 1620 (46:52): https://benfranklinsworld.com/episode-290-the-world-of-the-wampanoag-part-1/

The Mashpee Wampanoag want you to know the full history behind Thanksgiving: NPR (7 min): https://www.npr.org/transcripts/1059262045

You may also use this interactive global map to locate and acknowledge the specific Native peoples whose land you are on during your Thanksgiving meal: www.Native-land.ca

On behalf of the PCIR, have a wonderful holiday!
