Women’s Tennis Team Selected To Host NCAA Regional This Weekend

The Gustavus women’s tennis team has been selected to host one of eight NCAA Regional Tournaments this weekend. Play will begin on Thursday, May 1 with the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater (20-8) facing the College of St. Scholastica (13-3) and Coe College (22-3) facing Grinnell College (12-2) in a pair of first round matches. On Friday, May 2, Wheaton College (Ill.) (21-3) will play the winner of the Coe/Grinnell match. The other second round match has Gustavus (22-8) facing the winner of the UW-Whitewater/St. Scholastica match in the second round. The winner’s of Saturday’s matches will play on Saturday, May 3 for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Team Championship which will be held May 13-15 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Times have not yet been set for any of the matches this weekend.

Gustavus will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 20th time, as well as making its 20th consecutive appearance. The Gusties have won the NCAA Championship in 1990.
