Gustavus men’s golfer Eric Harris and women’s golfer Kali Griggs have been named MIAC Golfers of the Week by the conference golf coaches. Harris, a senior from Eden Prairie, Minn., finished first out of 90 golfers at the Augsburg Invitational, while Griggs, a sophomore from Burnsville, Minn. (Visitation HS), finished first out of 93 competitors at the Wartburg Invitational.

Harris, a three-year letterwinner for the Gusties, fired rounds of 72-72 to win the Augsburg Invitational by four shots. His two-round total of 144 led Gustavus to a 17-shot victory over #1 Saint John’s at the tournament. This was Harris’ first collegiate individual victory.

Kali Griggs, who placed third two weeks ago at the UW-Eau Claire Invite, claimed medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 74-73-147 this past weekend at the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa. Griggs led the Gusties to a first place finish at the 14-team invite. Griggs’ 36-hole total of 147 was one shot off the school record of 146 posted by Kelli Groff in 2005.

The Gustavus men take part in the Saint John’s Invitational this Saturday and Sunday, while the women’s team has the weekend off.
