Waste & Recycling - Data current through April 2021

Gustavus encourages responsible use and reuse of our natural resources. Proper recycling of materials is managed by the Grounds Shop along with student worker assistants.

Since August 2020, 16 locations have recycled 44 ton(s) of recyclable materials. These efforts conserved the following resources:
- 265 Mature Trees were Saved - Representing enough saved timber resources to produce 3.28M sheets of newspaper! 
- 159 Cubic Yards of Landfill Airspace - Representing enough airspace to fulfill the disposal needs for 204.11 people for one year! 
- 172,715 Kw-Hrs of Electricity - Enough power to fulfill the annual electricity needs of 14.39 homes! 
- Avoided 125 Metric Tons (M2CO2E) of GHG Emissions - Your recycling has prevented these emissions! 
- 157,616 Gallons of Water - Representing enough fresh water to meet the needs of 2.1k people!
