Description
Gustavus Adolphus College, an NCAA Division III institution, and a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), is seeking applications for an Assistant Volleyball Coach.
Employment Type: Full-time (.83 FTE), Benefits-Eligible, Exempt (Salaried)
Salary Range (based on .83 FTE): $36,000-$41,000
JOB SUMMARY: In accordance with all NCAA, MIAC and College policies and procedures, the successful applicant will possess a proven ability to coach volleyball, as well as recruit the best possible student-athletes within the rules and guidelines of the NCAA and Gustavus Admissions. This individual will help with all aspects of running the women’s volleyball program under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and implement specific training appropriate to each athlete
- Assist in practices, game planning and strategy, video breakdowns, and other volleyball duties
- Arrange all travel needs for the team including buses, hotels, and food
- Help design and monitor the in-season and off-season strength & conditioning program
- Recruit and retain academically and athletically qualified student-athletes
- Meet with prospective student-athletes on and off campus
- Work closely with and within the guidelines of the Admission office
- Monitor and evaluate academic performance of student-athletes
- Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with our coaching staff and athletic department
- Support and promote the team expectations and vision of the team
- Actively cultivate and maintain alumni relationships
- Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship and professionalism
- Additional duties as assigned
- Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA Division III, MIAC and Gustavus Adolphus College governing rules and regulations
Prerequisites
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to recruit high performing student-athletes
- Proficiency with social media, video editing, and Microsoft Office Suite products
- Experience with leading strength and conditioning workouts, preferred
- Collegiate volleyball experience as a player or coach, preferred
