JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clerical support to the faculty and students of the Psychological Science, Sociology/Anthropology and History departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide administrative expertise and support to the faculty of the Psychological Science, Sociology/Anthropology and History Departments.
- Prepare and manage all department budgets
- Perform general office duties
- Coordinate departmental events
- Prepare and send correspondence
- Coordinate faculty searches
- Digitize notes of course work and articles into pdf files for faculty use
- Gather and compile information for department assessments and evaluations
- Liaison with physical plant for all building maintenance
- Manage the logistical tasks in support of faculty and student research
- Provide expertise and support to the students
- Dispense relevant information, announcements, and employment opportunities to students from faculty and others
- Manage student employment
- Provide oversight of scholarship recipients
- Assist students in declaring a major and in the assignment of an advisor
- Develop content, edit, assign and supervise student staff in the production of the departmental online content
- Responsibility for Work of Others:
- Supervise 20+ student employees
- All other duties as assigned
Prerequisites
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Nine months general office experience, including typing, filing and record keeping, bookkeeping, and computer skills.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Working knowledge of the Macintosh computer.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet and websites.
- Good public relations abilities, both in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to handle a wide variety of details daily.
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision and take initiative necessary to complete tasks or solve problems.
