JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP), the Grant Accounts and Compliance Manager provides financial management and compliance oversight for grants, contracts, and other awards from foundation, corporate, and government sponsors in support of faculty research, scholarship and creative activities, as well as those in support of curricular, programmatic, and College initiatives.
Employment Type: Full-time (12 months), Exempt (Salaried), Benefits-Eligible
Review of applications will begin January 8, 2024, with an anticipated start date Feb 1, 2024. This position is grant funded, reviewed every two years. Continued employment is contingent on favorable performance evaluation and continued grant funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and College regulations and policies.
- Research, interpret, and apply sponsor regulations and guidelines effectively to ensure compliance.
- Develop policies and procedures, and document internal controls for financial compliance.
- Track and maintain records for state and federal compliance requirements including audit reports, procurement, compensation certification, and risk assessments.
- Manage grant related data, prepare financial reports, and lead monthly grant management meetings.
- Set up grant funded summer appointments and academic year reassignment time for current Gustavus employees.
- Review and approve grant expenditures ensuring they are allocable, allowable, and reasonable
- Track and report on cost-share commitments.
- Assist with budget revisions during the grant period.
- Collaborate with the Finance Office during grant and College audits.
- Assist the Finance Office with grant related invoicing, subaward-recipient risk assessment and monitoring, and award close-out.
- All other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of accounting and internal controls/auditing
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office Suite products, Google apps and accounting software Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of data analysis and forecasting
- Organized, detail-oriented professional with the ability to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively
- Handle highly confidential information responsibly
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with non-financial people
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field
- Experience with grants and contracts administration in a higher education setting.
- Experience with the federal Uniform Guidance
