JOB SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for keeping the grounds (roads, sidewalks, turf areas, trees, etc) at Gustavus Adolphus College in an attractive and safe condition. 

Employment Type: Part-time (24 hours/week, 52 weeks/year), Non-exempt (Hourly), Non-benefits Eligible

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform year-round maintenance functions to ensure that the campus grounds are maintained in the condition defined by the grounds maintenance program
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on grounds equipment through weekly cleaning and lubrication, and inspections prior to each use
  • Perform turf care including mowing, trimming, and debris removal
  • Keep roads and sidewalks clear of snow and ice to ensure safe conditions 
  • Provide garbage pickup, recycling services, and compost services
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Gustavus safety program 
  • Interact with the college community in a friendly and cooperative manner
  • Provide quality services as directed in a thorough and regular manner
  • All other duties as assigned

Prerequisites

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: .

  • Valid Minnesota Driver's License 
  • Punctual and detail oriented
  • Positive and hardworking attitude

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Exposure to unsanitary conditions during collection of waste and recyclable materials
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Operate potentially hazardous equipment
  • Normal amount of physical effort needed to perform tasks including intermittent lifting of 50 pounds or less, pushing and pulling, shoveling, standing, stretching, bending, and stooping
