JOB SUMMARY:  

To support the mission of the Campus Activities Office, demonstrating a commitment to:

  • Promoting student learning, development, and exploration through experiential education.
  • Providing opportunities for students to learn and utilize leadership skills.
  • Fostering an environment that connects students and builds community.
  • Facilitating a comprehensive series of intellectual, multicultural, recreational, social, and campus governance programs.
  • Helping students realize their individual and collective potential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Advise the Campus Activities Board and provide direction, leadership, oversight, and program development.
  • Develop and coordinate Homecoming with the Campus Activities Board and other agents of the College. 
  • Design, develop and coordinate Family Weekend.
  • Oversee all recognized student organizations including budget management, organizational training/development, and program planning.
  • Oversee and implement the student organization recognition process. 
  • Manage club and organization office space and “Gustie Den” resource room, and create and maintain applicable leadership and programming resources.
  • Supervise and oversee the Gus the Mascot program.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for Family Weekend, Leadership, and the Campus Activities Board
  • Share responsibilities for weekend/evening programming support and committee involvement with the Director of Campus Activities.
  • Assess existing campus activities and identify new campus activities programming needs
  • Perform other professional, executive, and administrative duties as necessary and as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Prerequisites

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education or relevant field
  • Strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Possess self-initiative and the ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends as required by the job

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education or relevant field
  • Experience advising Programming Boards
  • A mature understanding of issues and trends in higher education
  • An understanding of identity development theory
  • Demonstrated familiarity with liberal arts education within a residential setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
  • Demonstrated success in working with culturally diverse populations
