Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time User Services Technology Coordinator with the Gustavus Technology Services Office. 

Gustavus Adolphus College is a private liberal arts college in Saint Peter, Minn., that prepares over 2,200 undergraduates for lives of leadership, service, and lifelong learning. Fully accredited and known for its strong science, writing, music, athletics, study-away, and service-learning programs, Gustavus hosts a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and is internationally recognized for its annual Nobel Conference.

This exciting new opportunity is a position of great importance. This position is one of five enthusiastic and knowledgeable professionals responsible for providing customer-focused desktop technology support for the students, faculty, and staff of Gustavus Adolphus College. This individual, as a member of the User Services team, participates in the implementation of strategies, tools, resources, and training to maximize technological efficiencies and enhance security, while maintaining a high level of hands-on service and support to the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Share responsibility for the daily direction and management of the Technology Helpline.  The Technology Helpline is the primary technology support center for the campus. It utilizes an energetic staff of more than 35 student employees to provide technology support for all campus-owned machines, multimedia teaching spaces, labs, and student-owned machines.
  • Provide customer-centric, end-user support for all campus-owned hardware, software applications, and student computing needs.
  • Identify, research, and resolve technical problems and respond to calls, emails, and other requests for technical support; using ticket management software to document, track, and monitor the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Establish priorities, meet deadlines, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Assist with management and support of campus computer labs and classroom technology.
  • Provide hands-on support to advance critical security initiatives.
  • Acquire or develop and maintain clearly written web-based documentation for areas of primary responsibility.
  • Collaborate in the creation, testing, and implementation of software images for campus computers  (Mac/Windows).
  • Participate in job-related, in-service workshops and training conducted by Technology Services, other campus groups, and at off-campus sites, when appropriate.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong strategic knowledge of educational technologies.
  • 2-year college degree or in process of 4-year college degree.
  • Must have solid communication, presentation, leadership, collaboration, negotiation, analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.  (MacOS and Windows) 
  • Ability to process and retain a large amount of technical information.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 4-year college degree.
  • Experience working at a similar institution or possess knowledge of liberal arts educational environments.
  • MacOS desktop administration and deployment.


  • Occasional heavy lifting and ladder work.
