Parents

We invite you and your child to participate in our studies. Participation involves a one-time visit. Studies take less than 10 minutes, but we ask that you allot 30 minutes for the appointment so that we can describe the study & answer questions. This will also give your child plenty of time to play and get comfortable with our researchers. You'll be with your child throughout the visit, and siblings are welcome to come--we have a play area and baby sitters. We also provide free parking & travel reimbursements.

In a typical study, your child will listen to speech, watch short videos, or play with toys. We observe your child's spontaneous responses to these sounds and objects, including where they look, what they say, or what objects they choose. Their responses help us better understand early cognitive development.

If you are interested in participating in one of our studies with your child, please fill out our on-line form or contact us directly at cds@gustavus.edu or (507) 933-6352. We will contact you when we have a study that's right for your child's age group.
