The College Seal

The official seal of Gustavus Adolphus College remains unchanged. In its general form, detailed artwork, and use of a Latin motto, it is similar to the seals of many other institutions. For these reasons, it is not an effective visual identifier for College print or Web publications. Rather, the seal is to be used to authenticate official College documents (e.g., diplomas, legal documents, or financial instruments) and may be used on other materials—e.g., glass- and metalware offered by the Book Mark—only at the discretion of the president or the board of trustees or with the advice and authorization of the Office of Public Relations.

Permission to use the College seal on official certificates recognizing outstanding achievements of students, faculty, or staff (or as a device on other formal documents or items) may be requested from the Office of College Relations. Design and typography of all certificates shall be prescribed by the Office of College Relations, and the seal must be reproduced from an authorized, original camera-ready copy or an electronic file developed by Printing Services. It should not be redrawn, separated into component parts, or modified in any way. It is properly rendered using the following processes and colors only: in process black or metallic gold ink (PMS #872); as a blind emboss (or engraved); in black thermograph; or foil-stamped in gold (#318 matte).

Minimum size for the seal is ¾ inch in diameter.
