The purpose of Mosaic Interfaith Club will be to generate interfaith dialogue, as in harmonious and constructive interactions between people of different faiths, religions, spiritualities, or humanistic beliefs, and strive to understand how “religion” which seems to be this old, distant, and antiquated thing, is applicable to our modern world. We will strive to learn about our own beliefs as well as the beliefs of others.
THE CONSTITUION OF MOSAIC INTERFAITH CLUB
The name of this organization shall be Mosaic Interfaith Club.
Section 1. The purpose of Mosaic Interfaith Club will be to generate interfaith dialogue, as in harmonious and constructive interactions between people of different faiths, religions, spiritualities, or humanistic beliefs, and strive to understand how “religion” which seems to be this old, distant, and antiquated thing, is applicable to our modern world. We will strive to learn about our own beliefs as well as the beliefs of others.
Section 1. Mosaic will work towards the validation of growth and expression of individual’s faith experiences.
Section 2. Mosaic will work to generate harmonious interfaith dialogue between mosaic members as well as members of our community at large.
Section 3. Mosaic will actively work against manifestations of hate.
Section 4. Mosaic will Work towards personal affirmations of belief through the processes of learning about our own beliefs as well as learning about the beliefs of others.
Section 5. Mosaic will engage in modern dialogue about faiths in the world today.
Section 1: Membership in this organization is open to all students who want to explore their own faith as well as learn about the faiths of others.
Section 2: The following categories of membership exist in Mosaic Interfaith Club
Executive board: Co-presidents, DLC representative, Treasurer
Advisory board: Past co- presidents
Members: Everyone involved in Mosaic Interfaith Club
All categories of membership receive equal treatment
Section 3: Members are accepted continually throughout the year as long as they attend at least one Mosaic Interfaith meeting a semester
Section 1: The following officer positions shall exist in Mosaic Interfaith club: Two co-presidents, Treasurer, Diversity leadership Council Representative. All officers must be full-time students in good standing enrolled at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Section 2: The duties of each office are described as follows:
1. To organize and preside over meetings
2. To function as a spokespeople for Mosaic Interfaith Club
3. To facilitate communication between executive board members
4. To work with the advisor and other executive board members to create yearly goals for the organization
5. To send out reminder emails about weekly meetings
6. To update DLC blog every two weeks
7. To facilitate monthly Executive Board meetings
1. To maintain the finances of the Mosaic Interfaith Club and keep accurate records of all financial matters
2. To coordinate other fund raising efforts
3. To assist in the development of yearly organizational goals
4. To attend monthly Executive Board meetings
C. Diversity Leadership Council Representative
1. To attend weekly DLC meetings
2. To represent Mosaic Interfaith Club and its interests at DLC
3. To report back to Mosaic Interfaith Club at weekly meetings about the happenings of DLC
Section 3: Candidates will be elected through an initial expression in interest in the position. If there are multiple people interested in the same position then there will be a vote at a weekly meeting to determine who will hold the position.
Section 1: Meetings will be held once a week in the Interfaith Space. The co-presidents will set the agenda for the meetings with input from all members of Mosaic welcome.
Section 2: Decisions are made by discussion issues at group meetings and then voting in exec board meetings. If there is a decision about group affiliations then the vote must be unanimous in order for Mosaic to officially affiliate themselves with something.
Section 3: The President or Advisor has the capability of calling special meetings for any matters they feel cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled meeting.
Section 1: The Executive Board shall be comprised of the co-presidents, the treasurer, and the DLC representative
Section 2: The executive board shall meet once a month to discuss the planning of club events. Members of the advisory board are welcome and encouraged to attend but they are not required to attend the board meetings.
Section 1: Funds of the organization shall be acquired through working with senate and DLC.
Section 2: Upon dissolution of Mosaic Interfaith Club, any financial assets will be credited to the Gustavus Student Senate.
Section 1: By-laws may be established by club members and reviewed each September. Any member in good standing can propose the by-laws. They will be prepared for voting by the Executive Board members and submitted to members in writing prior to the meeting where voting is to take place.
Section 2: All members in good standing are eligible to vote, but must be present at the meeting to do so. A majority vote is needed to allow the by-law to pass.
Section 1: All members of Mosaic Interfaith Club that are in good standing may propose Amendments. The proposed amendments will be reviewed by the Executive Board members and submitted to members in writing at least 2 weeks before voting is to take place.
Section 2: All members in good standing are eligible to vote, but must be present at the meeting to do so. A two-thirds (2/3) majority is needed to allow the amendment to pass.
Section 3: If amendments are passed they take effect at the end of the meeting during which they are passed.
