Gustavus Alpine Ski Race Team will represent Gustavus and compete against other colleges and universities in the Midwest chapter of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA).
Article I: Name and Mission Statement Section I: The name of this organization shall be Gustavus Alpine Ski Race Team. Section II: The purpose of this organization is to represent Gustavus and compete against other colleges and universities in the Midwest chapter of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA). Article II: Membership Section I: Any student at Gustavus Adolphus College may join the team so long as they meet two requirements: 1. The student must have previous experience with downhill skiing and be able to ski black diamond slopes. Previous racing experience is encouraged, but not necessary. 2. The student must have the necessary equipment including: a pair of skis, a pair of boots, a helmet, poles, and adequate winter clothing. All members are responsible for maintaining their own equipment. The college recommends annual inspection to ensure the equipment functions properly. USCSA recognizes both a male and a female team so both are encouraged to join. USCSA also allows snowboarders, so if any wish to join they should contact the captain(s) of the alpine ski team. Article III: Officers Section I: The positions available are at least one captain depending on interest. Section II: The captain(s) will manage funds, provide travel plans and other paperwork, and keep open communication between the team, school, association, and advisor. At least member of the leadership team must attend every race or nominate a representative in his or her place, this member shall serve as captain and must check in with MCSA and attend captain's meetings. There is no limit on how many years an officer may hold a title. Section III: Captains must be enrolled at Gustavus Adolphus College and be a member of the alpine ski race team. Section IV: The captain(s) are responsible for signing the team up for races, organizing travel and overnight accommodations, and organizing any practices. Article IV: Meetings Section I: Practices will be held as decided by the team at the beginning of each year. Article V: Finances Section I: Funds may be allocated by the Gustavus Student Senate or through donations. The team may wish to participate in fundraising opportunities as well. Article VI: Amendments Section I: At any time any member may propose an amendment to the constitution. A majority vote of the team is required for the amendment to be instilled.
