GAC Men's Rugby is a part of the Gustavus community that is committed to teaching and improving rugby skills to players, to promoting team spirit through competitive play with other rugby clubs, to providing athletic conditioning, to providing opportunities to watch and learn rugby at Gustavus for non-players, and to recognizing and promoting the national growth and interest of rugby on and off the field.
This organization will be known as the Gustavus Men’s Rugby Club.
The purpose of the Gustavus Men’s Rugby Club will be to represent the University in the Minnesota Rugby Union as well as USA Rugby
Membership will be open to any male who is a student at Gustavus Adolphus College and who participates in all team practice sessions.
The formal officers of the Gustavus Men’s Rugby Club will be President, Vice President, Treasurer, Match Secretary, Backs Captain, Pack Captain and Social Chair.
The titles of the officers will be President (backs or pack captain), Vice-President (backs or pack captain), Treasurer, Match Secretary, and Social Chair.
Qualifications for officer positions will be class standing of sophomore or higher and good academic standing (i.e., cumulative quality point average of 2.0 or higher).
The duties of the President will be:
(a). To preside over all club meetings as required.
(b). To assist the Treasurer in any way and correspond all team activities to its Faculty Advisor.
The duties of the Vice-President will be:
(a). To assume all duties of the President in the event of the President’s absence.
(b). Assist the President at all team functions and organization
The duties of the Treasurer will be:
(a). To keep accurate records of the team’s budget.
(b). Responsible for RFP's as well as presenting and creating budget for student senate. (As well as mid years if necessary)
(c). Assist and coordinate with the Match Secretary
The duties of the Match Secretary will be:
(a). To schedule all matches and games, including times and locations.
(b). To confirm all matches and games.
(c). To communicate with the Rugby Union and other teams.
The duties of the Captain will be:
(a). To direct the rugby team on the playing and practicing fields.
(b). To attend all league meetings.
The procedure to remove an officer will be to bring the matter to the club membership for a vote. It will take a two-thirds vote for removal.
The procedure for filling a vacancy will be to meet the requirements already stated in Article IV, Section II. Majority vote wins.
Officer elections will be held during the fall semester.
There will be no regular club meetings. There will be team practices held each week during the season. Special club meetings will be called at the discretion of the President and will be made known through all available communication mediums.
The team must be represented by at least two-thirds of its members to conduct meetings.
Financing for the club will come from the Cooperative Activities Office through the Student Government Association.
The team’s finances are to be planned and organized by the Treasurer in consultation with the President and the Student Finance Committee.
There will be no standing committees.
Amendments to the Constitution may be made by a two-thirds vote of the voting quorum.
Ratification of this Constitution will be made by a two-thirds vote of the voting quorum.
