Students who plan to present papers or posters should fill out the web-based form at http://gustavus.edu/academics/sigmaxi/SXSymp2008_files/urform08.htm no later than Friday, April 18, in order to provide information such as authors, title, abstract, and special requirements. If for some reason you can't use this web-based form, please contact Tom Huber, Olin 209, x7036, huber@gustavus.edu, in order to acquire an e-mail or paper version of the form.
When writing your title and abstract, please use HTML conventions for special notations. For superscripts, precede the superscript by and following it by . Similarly surround subscripts by and .
Speakers are reminded that the audience will include people who may be unfamiliar with specialized terminology (lingo, jargon, perceived gobbledygook) and techniques. Appropriate explanations should be made of such terminology.
Speakers are encouraged to bring exhibits, demonstrations, and audio-visual materials [overhead transparencies, slides, CD's or flash/thumb drives (for PowerPoint presentations), videotapes, etc.] that will quickly convey the points to be made. Papers are scheduled at 15-minute intervals. Be prepared to speak for 10 minutes and allow 5 minutes of questions. Ask your friends and/or colleagues to come to your presentation, and ask them to ask some questions. Others in the audience probably will have the same (unasked) questions.
Concurrent sessions will be scheduled if the number of papers warrant. Any questions regarding this symposium should be directed to Tom Huber, Olin 209, x7036, huber@gac.edu.
