Take an Assessment
Assessing your goals, interests, values, skills and abilities are all part of the first step in the career development process. Career Development at Gustavus offers tools to help you with assessment, as well as individual appointments with a career counselor to get you started on this process.
Online Assessment Tools
Career Develpment offers the tools listed below for assessment. We recommend the Strong Interest Inventory as your starting point. The assessments are taken online and login instructions are available in the Center for Servant Leadership. We ask that you have the online assessment completed 2 days prior to your appointment with a career counselor.
Strong Interest Inventory (SII) -- The Strong Interest Inventory compares your interests with those of people working in a broad range of occupations. It does not measure abilities or aptitudes. This information is a starting point in the process of making decisions about your major and career.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) -- The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a tool to help you understand yourself, your own personal preferences and how you interact with others. MBTI results can be used to explore career choice, learning styles, problem solving, leadership, team building and networking.
Receiving Your Results
The results of your assessment are extensive and require a counselor to interpret. Once you have completed the inventory online, please stop by the Center for Servant Leadership or call x7272 to make a one hour appointment with a career counselor.
Self-Leadership Track, GOLD (Gusties in Ongoing Leadership) -- The Self-Leadership track of the GOLD program is also a means to explore self through a variety of assessments and inventories. See the GOLD webpage for more information.
