Join Us in Science Research!

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction." Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Who can contribute to science at Gustavus Adolphus College? Everyone! The days of a lone genius isolated in a laboratory (if they ever really existed) are over. More than ever, science is a social activity with students, professors, researchers, field technicians, journal editors, and clinicians all working together to expand knowledge and possibly improve the human condition. Similarly, research on our campus is enhanced by the involvement of students, alumni, faculty, and supporting organizations. Please join us in our fun, educational and challenging student-faculty efforts!

Students

Moonwort HuntressesIf you are considering doing research, or would like to know how to find a research advisor, simply go to our Why Research? page. Then visit the resource pages at Gustavus Adolphus College's Kendall Center for Engaged Learning.

Sometimes like-minded, experienced students can be a valuable resource as well. Here is a list of oncampus student clubs you may wish to participate in:

For current student researchers, let the world know what you are doing and how it impacts our knowledge in math and science by requesting your own research page from the site editor. Your research advisor will have to approve the words and images you supply, so write carefully!

Alumni

If you were a student in natural sciences and mathematics, please consider posting your past involvement with science research on our Research Alumni page. Simply contact the site editor.

If you have continued involvement in science and math and will be near Gustavus Adolphus College, please consider speaking with our current students. We always appreciate the special guidance and perspective that only alums can provide! To arrange a visit, contact the Gustavus Adolphus College Alumni Office and tell them you wish to support science research.

Faculty

Gustavus Adolphus College's Kendall Center for Engaged Learning lists opportunities and mentoring advice for faculty wishing to expand student involvement in research.

Faculty are encouraged to contribute by volunteering to help maintain a portion of this site, or perhaps administer the Research Blog. Our faculty can also help promote their student collaborations and/or highlight amazing alumni by contacting the site editor.
