Join Us in Research, Scholarship and Creativity!
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction." Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
Who can contribute to research, scholarship and creativity at Gustavus Adolphus College? Everyone! The days of a lone genius isolated in a laboratory (if they ever really existed) are over. More than ever, research, scholarship and creative work is a social activity with students, professors, researchers, field technicians, journal editors, and clinicians all working together to expand knowledge and possibly improve the human condition. Similarly, our campus is enhanced by the involvement of students, alumni, faculty, and supporting organizations. Please join us in our fun, educational and challenging student-faculty efforts!
If you are considering doing research, or would like to know how to find a research advisor, simply go to our Why Research? page. Sometimes like-minded, experienced students can be a valuable resource as well. Here is a link to a huge list of on-campus student organizations you may wish to participate in. There are organizations in just about every academic discipline.
For current student researchers, let the world know what you are doing and how it impacts our knowledge in math and science by requesting your own research page from the site editor. Your research advisor will have to approve the words and images you supply, so write carefully!
If you have continued involvement in research, scholarship and creativity and will be near Gustavus Adolphus College, please consider speaking with our current students. We always appreciate the special guidance and perspective that only alums can provide! To arrange a visit, contact the Gustavus Adolphus College Alumni Office or the department of interest..
Faculty are encouraged to contribute by volunteering to help maintain a portion of this site, or perhaps administer the Research Blog. Our faculty can also help promote their student collaborations and/or highlight amazing alumni by contacting the site editor.
Gustavus is very interested in seminar speakers, reviewers and others interested in helping us advance math and science education. Please contact the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations for more information.
