Mara Klein


Director of Communication Services and Fine Arts Programs in Marketing and Communication

Mara joined Gustavus Adolphus College as Director of Communication Services and Fine Arts Programs in July 2017.

Prior to her time at Gustavus, Mara worked in fine arts management coordinating performances for hundreds of band, choir and orchestra tours across the world. Her role included producing large-scale instrumental and choral festivals at some of the world’s most iconic concert halls including Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Orchestra Hall in Chicago and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Additionally, she produced festivals overseas in Salzburg, Austria and Paris, France.

Mara is a 2011 graduate of St. Olaf College, where she spent four years in the St. Olaf Band and majored in sociology/anthropology. Following graduation, she spent a year living in Singapore, working as a research assistant and project manager for a sociological study examining chronic disease self-management among older adults.

During college, Mara was fortunate enough to work as a reporter or production intern at several news outlets including Minnesota Public Radio, Twin Cities Public Television, and the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Mara enjoys taking full advantage of the great Minnesota outdoors while running, hiking, and camping with her husband, Garrett, and dog, Scout.
