Karla Leitzman ’13

Alumni and Staff

Special Gift Officer Coordinator for Reunion Giving in Advancement

Karla graduated from Gustavus in 2013 with a degree in Theatre with Honors. Prior to joining the Gustavus Advancement team in July of 2017, Karla served as a Philanthropy Associate at Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys where she contributed to multiple areas of growth in individual giving and donor stewardship.

Karla is incredibly grateful for her Gustavus liberal arts education which took place both in and out of the classroom, including participating in the incredible 2011 Gustavus Semester In Sweden program. As a student, she was happiest when she was involved in many activities and groups on campus, incuding many Gustavus theatre productions, I Am We Are social justice theatre troupe, various music ensembles, Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, The Viking Society, and Gustavus Ambassadors.

In her current role at Gustavus, Karla is responsible for connecting with Gustavus alumni regarding various opportunities to support the mission of the college in conjecture with their upcoming class reunion celebrations.

Karla considers lifelong learning to be a vocational calling, and as such she's pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Luther Seminary, so when she isn't working, she is probably reading some kind of biblical or theological analysis and drinking a lot of coffee.

Karla lives in St. Paul and loves doing as much theatre and music in the Twin Cities as possible when she can tear herself away from homework. It is easy to find her exploring new art venues, coffee shops and restaurants with her friends and significant other. Karla is a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in the Mac Groveland neigborhood of St. Paul, where she serves on the church council and sings in the choir.
