Visiting Instructor in Education

After 34 years in public education, I retired in September 2015. The last 24 years of my teaching adventure was with the St. James Public School District. (St. James, MN). My responsibilities at the High School were half-time Curriculum Coordinator and half-time Earth Science Instructor. In addition to my teaching responsibilities I  also coached wrestling, football, and baseball both at the jr. high and varsity levels. I serve on several district committees including; Staff Development, Technology, PLC, and iObservation-Teacher Assessment. I am past president of Education Minnesota-St. James.
Prior to St. James I taught in Mankato, MN., (Alternative School), Chokio-Alberta, MN., Sherburn, MN., and Tracy, MN.

My undergraduate degrees were earned at Minnesota State University - Mankato (MN.) where I majored in Biology, General Science, Health Education, and Physical Education along with a coaching certification. I earned a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. 

In 2007 I was identified as one of the top STEM educators in the nation and named as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow. I served a one year fellowship with the National Science Foundation in Washington DC during the 2007-2008 school year working with the Integrated Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) program.
