Gift Planner and Friends of Music Program Lead in Advancement

Jennifer graduated from Gustavus in 1997 with majors in music performance - voice and theatre. She completed the mini-MBA program for non-profits in 2010 and the fundraising certification program in 2015 at the University of St. Thomas. Jennifer earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential in March 2021.

In her role as a Gift Planner, Jennifer serves supporters of Gustavus in the Twin Cities, southeastern Minnesota, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina. She works closely with the 50 year reunion class on their giving each year. Jennifer is also the Advancement liaison for Friends of Music, a group of faculty, students, administrators, alumni, and friends committed to furthering music excellence at Gustavus. She also serves on the President's Council for  Diversity, Equity, Inclusion,a nd Belonging.

Prior to her employment at Gustavus, Jennifer worked at Thrivent Financial in the roles of senior new business development specialist, marketing communications training specialist, and financial advisor.  She spent the first portion of her career in music retail working for Musicland and Best Buy as a regional loss prevention manager, store auditor and store manager.

Music is an important part of Jennifer's life. She is a 25-year member of the VocalEssence Chorus under the direction of Philip Brunelle and G. Phillip Shoultz, III.  As a singer in VocalEssence, Jennifer has performed on stage with Andrea Bocelli, Melanie DeMore, Dessa, Josh Groban, Garrison Keillor, Sounds of Blackness, and Sweet Honey in the Rock. She is in her fifth year serving as the soprano section leader and in her fourth year serving on the VocalEssence development committee. Jennifer has served on fundraising committees for the organization as a silent auction co-chair and champion of the chorus giving campaign. She was involved in an adaptive planning process for VocalEssence led by EmcArts which led to a strategic plan for the organization. Jennifer has studied voice in the studios of the late Dorie Schmarzo, Dr. Patricia Snapp, Dr. Dale Kruse, Dr. Krista Palmquist, and the late Audrey Stottler.

Jennifer lives in Minneapolis with her happy orange tabby cat, Morris. She is God Mother to four amazing kids, one fourteen year-old and three eleven year-olds. She is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities in Minneapolis. Jennifer volunteers as an Extended Family Member and Growth Goddess with Project Diva International
