JoNes R. VanHecke earned her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan’s Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education.  During her time as a doctoral student she was honored to work with the Wabash National Study of Liberal Arts Education research project with Dr. Patricia King, Dr. Marcia Baxter Magolda and Dr. Ernie Pascarella.

VanHecke holds a masters degree from Indiana University Higher Education Student Affairs program and a bachelors degree from Gustavus Adolphus College.  Additionally, she was a participant at the HERS/Bryn Mawr College Summer Institute for Women In Higher Education at Bryn Mawr College. 

With more than 25 years of experience as a student affairs professional, Dr. VanHecke’s scholar/practitioner research interests include college student development, liberal arts education and citizenship/civic engagement.

Outside of work, JoNes enjoys riding horse, taking care of her small acreage and any activities that get her outdoors!
