Alumni and Administrator

Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Jackie Neeck Peterson serves as Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Director of Development. In this role she is responsible for assisting the Vice President, Thomas Young, in fundraising and resource development to meet the present and future needs of the College.

Jackie grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota, and spent summers at Lake Washington between St. Peter and Mankato.  For a few years her neighbors at Lake Washington were Frank & Marge Barth, while Frank was president of Gustavus.  This led Jackie to become a Gustie and she graduated in 1977 with a major in music (clarinet) and a minor in psychology.  She did further study at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Augsburg College to earn her certification as a Music Therapist in 1981.  After working as a music therapist for St. Paul’s Developmental Achievement Center, she took a position with the Marketing Services Department of the Pillsbury Company in 1983, beginning a 25 year career in public relations.  Focusing on brand marketing events and communications, Jackie started her own consulting firm in 2002, retaining General Mills and Pillsbury as major clients.

In 2009, Jackie returned to her alma mater to join the Institutional Advancement staff as a Gift Planner, working to secure planned gifts for Gustavus. As part of her portfolio, Jackie serves as staff liaison for Friends of Music at the College.

Jackie and her husband, Wayne (’77), live in Plymouth, MN.  They have two children; Benjamin and Kaitlyn. Ben is a graduate of Northwestern University currently working on his doctorate in kinesiology at the University of Minnesota.  Kait, a 2011 Gustie grad, works for Caribou Coffee and does freelance graphic design work on the side.

Her interests include art, music, cooking and sitting on the porch with her cocker spaniel while reading a good book.
