Study Away Program Coordinator in International and Cultural Education

Justin Kader is responsible for coordinating study away programs, including off-campus programs and international programs. He promotes, manages, and advises for all non-faculty-led programs (exchanges, direct enrollments, provider and consortia programs) and supervises the CICE's study away interns.

Justin originally hails from the Chicago area. At an early age, he pursued his interest in culture and language through extracurricular Spanish courses in elementary school and an academic trip to Mexico in high school. Majoring in international relations and Spanish at Wartburg College, Justin studied away in Mexico and Spain. He also championed international justice issues through his leadership in Students for Peace and Justice, Leading Education and Relief for Nablus, Diversity Committee, International Club and Interfaith Dialogue Committee.

Prior to joining the CICE, Justin most recently served as a leader for the Spain: Technology and Social Innovation in Urban Culture and Spain: Historic and Contemporary Cultural Diversity programs with the Experiment in International Living (World Learning). Before then, he spent four years providing support for inbound and outbound students, parents, host families, and volunteers at AFS Intercultural Programs. Justin also has teaching experience at various community education literacy programs, a first-year English program for international students at Wartburg College, and English language classes at a high school in Spain. Justin is particularly interested in cross-departmental collaboration on intercultural initiatives.

Justin loves to travel. He has been to Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Germany, Denmark, Japan, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, and all over the U.S. for work and pleasure. Justin is an avid bicyclist and gardener. He and his wife, Jen, raise chickens and grow vegetables at their Minneapolis home. Being passionate about food and coffee, Justin loves to cook and roasts his own coffee beans. Justin is active in interfaith/transbelief dialogues, local food justice and environmental sustainability efforts, immigrant rights, labor justice, and neighborhood engagement. He is also passionate about music and boasts an impressive vinyl collection.
