Corey Shea enters his seventh season on the Gustavus football coaching staff.  Coach Shea will begin his third year as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. In his previous four seasons with Gustavus, he served as the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator.

Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Shea has six years of coaching experience in NCAA Division II as well as two years of experience as a student coach at William Penn University. He completed a bachelor's degree in physical education at William Penn in 2001 and received his master's degree in athletic administration from South Dakota State University in 2003.  Corey also serves as the team’s travel coordinator.

From 2001-02, Shea was also running backs coach at South Dakota State before moving on to Minnesota State University-Mankato where he served as wide receivers coach in 2003 and running backs coach in 2004. During his time at these two schools, Shea coached two candidates for NCAA Division II Player of the Year, Josh Ranek (SDSU) and Sean Treasure (MSU-Mankato). From 2005-06, Shea was quarterbacks coach at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska

Corey lives in St. Peter with his two children, Macauley and Mia.
