A 1980 graduate of Gustavus, Bob is in his 42nd year in the admission office at Gustavus. He is a passionate Gustie and has worked enthusiastically with thousands of high school students and parents. He has traveled throughout rural and metropolitan Minnesota as well as throughout the United States representing Gustavus. His principal territory for the college is now the metro Twin Cities and suburbs, Alaska and Hawaii.
In addition to his enthusiasm for meeting prospective students and their parents at college fairs, high schools and on campus, Bob reads hundreds of applications and serves on the application review team with the Dean of Admission. Bob is in charge of the College’s largest on campus recruitment event—Minnesota Private College Week in June every year and he also coordinates the college’s presence at the Minnesota State Fair in the Education Building every year. In 2005, Bob was chosen to receive the Eric Norelius Service Award for exemplary service and dedication to Gustavus Adolphus College.
Bob is a long-time member of the Minnesota Association of College Admission Counselors as well as its parent organization at the National level. He has served multiple year terms as co-chair of the National College Fair Committee and as co-chair of the Minnesota Education Fair committee. He is called upon frequently to speak to high school groups about the college search process and topics related to the college application and financial aid process.
While a student at Gustavus, Bob was a goalkeeper on the soccer team and has a passion for the student-athlete experience at the college. He is an avid Gustie sports fan and can be found supporting students and coaches at many home and away Gustie contests. He is also committed to the values and ideals upheld by Gustavus as a church-related institution and has served as a homilist and is a regular worshiper at Daily Sabbath services.
Bob and his wife Becky reside in Chaska MN with their three sons Peter, Mark and Andrew. He is a former Sunday School teacher and is currently a member of the Mt. Olivet Senior Choir in Victoria MN. He has also volunteered as a coach for his sons many sports teams and has worked with Love, INC based in Carver County. Bob has also served on a number of education and building committees in School District 112 and has had leadership roles at Minnetonka Lutheran Church and Mt. Olivet Lutheran.
