Head Softball Coach in Athletics

Britt Stewart is in her third season as the head coach of the Gustavus softball team in 2019. Stewart, a native of Minnetonka, Minn., was named the head softball coach at Gustavus in July of 2016. Previously, Stewart spent three seasons at Southwest Minnesota State University where she was the lead pitching and assistant hitting coach.

In addition to her lead pitching and assistant hitting coach responsibilities at Southwest Minnesota State, Stewart was instrumental in developing a recruiting process and an athlete-training program for the Mustangs. Stewart organized and conducted softball camps, as well as leading the strength and conditioning program. She was also involved in the softball program’s administrative work by providing academic support and organizing various fundraising events. In addition to her responsibilities at Southwest Minnesota State over three seasons, Stewart’s coaching experience includes stints with the German Baseball and Softball Federation, Eden Prairie Softball Association, Play Ball! Minnesota, Winona State University Softball Camps, and as a private pitching and hitting consultant.

Stewart played two collegiate seasons at Augustana University before transferring to Winona State University in 2010. At Winona State, Stewart was a two-time All-NSIC and two-time All-Region honoree where she hit a combined 14 home runs, 22 doubles, and 81 RBI. As a pitcher, she finished 24-12 in two seasons with 11 complete games and 121 strikeouts. At the plate during her senior season, Stewart hit .380 and helped lead the Warriors to the NCAA Super Regional, and No. 10 ranking in the final NFCA Top 25 poll.

Stewart received her Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Winona State in 2013 and then received her Masters of Science in education and sports leadership from Southwest Minnesota State in 2015.

Stewart is the seventh head coach in the 51-year history of Gustavus softball. The Gusties have won three conference titles, while compiling an all-time record of 847-545-4 overall and 522-237-3 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
