2016 Gustavus Symphony Orchestra Companion Tour to Greece and TurkeyJanuary 20 – February 1, 2016

Overview

This trip companion tour was designed for alumni, parents, and friends of Gustavus to visit significant sites in Greece and Turkey while having the opportunity to hear outstanding music performed by the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra. The Gustavus Symphony Orchestra tours annually as part of its regular course of study and performance. As part of the preparations for an international tour, members of the orchestra study the unique history and culture of the region in which they travel. The Orchestra’s most recent international tour was to South Africa in 20.

This 13 night/15 day tour of Greece and Turkey will include Athens, Thessaloniki, Canakkale, Izmir, Ankara, Bursa and Istanbul.

Activity Level

Moderately active. This tour will require a lot of walking, often over uneven ground. Elevators are not always available so there will be stairs to climb. Sometimes stairs and pathways will not have handrails. You should be ready to keep pace with an active group of traveling companions.
