Overview
This trip companion tour was designed for alumni, parents, and friends of Gustavus to visit significant sites in England and Paris while having the opportunity to hear outstanding music performed by the Gustavus Choir.
The Gustavus Choir enjoys an enviable reputation for excellence in performance and artistic interpretation of the finest choral literature.
The Gustavus Choir tours annually as part of its regular course of study and performance. As part of the preparations for the and international tour, members of the choir study the unique history and culture of the region in which they traveled. Most recent international tours include: 1999 to South Africa, 2002 to Italy, and 2007 to Spain and Portugal.
Program Leader
Gregory J. Aune, D.M.A. is Conductor of The Gustavus Choir and is Jon and Anita Thomsen Young Distinguished Endowed Chair in Music. In addition to his work with the Gustavus Choir, Dr. Aune conducts The Chamber Singers and the St. Ansgar's Men's Chorus, teaches classes in choral conducting and choral literature, and serves as Music Director of the annual Christmas in Christ Chapel program.
A 1976 graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, Aune holds graduate degrees from the University of Iowa School of Music, including the D.M.A. awarded in 1987. His post-graduate experiences include study and performance with the Robert Shaw Choral Institute, under the auspices of Carnegie Hall, New York.

Activity Level
Moderately active. This tour will require a lot of walking, often over uneven ground. Elevators are not always available so there will be stairs to climb. Sometimes stairs and pathways will not have handrails. You should be ready to keep pace with an active group of traveling companions.
