Faculty-Instruction Support Grant

Established in 2012, this grant supports faculty in the process of learning about collections relevant to course content and developing assignments using primary sources found in the College and Lutheran Church Archives at Gustavus Adolphus College. The goal of the grant is to encourage faculty and student use of the archives and provide students with hands-on research activities with primary source materials.
Eligibility: All regular faculty members (both full- and part-time) are eligible to apply for this grant. Applications will be evaluated based on a brief statement of intent along with an accompanying budget. Your statement should include how this activity will be incorporated into one or more of your courses and how students will benefit from using this in-house research laboratory.
Award: Successful applicants will be awarded $500, which can go toward supplies and/or be taken as a stipend. Funds will be paid out in two equal installments, one at the start of the project and the other on its successful completion.
Application Process: The applicant will submit the following materials. 1. Statement of intent (250 words max) 2. Budget (this may include money used to acquire materials and supplies or offset printing charges for either you or your students)
All application packets should be submitted via e-mail to Jeff Jenson, the College and Lutheran Church Archivist, by 1 May 2012.
Selection: The selection will be made by three people, the College and Lutheran Church Archivist and two other faculty members. The committee will give preference to applications including assignments designed to encourage active learning.
Final Report: The grant recipient must submit a final report (250 words max) addressing activities and the project’s outcomes within one calendar month after the semester’s completion.
