Excellent teaching is serious, scholarly work. In order to support the resources required to address student learning in a scholarly manner, The John S. Kendall Center for Engaged Learning is pleased to introduce Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) grants. The initiative provides support for faculty to develop, implement and assess a pedagogical approach intended to address a specific challenge to student learning. For a complete description of the grants, including application procedures and deadlines, please click here and/or visit the Kendall Center website under grants.
If you are interested in exploring ways of assessing your pedagogical approach, plan to attend a workshop led by Leila Brammer, Faculty Associate for Assessment of Learning Outcomes and Julie Gilbert, Faculty Associate for SoTL on December 9 at 2:30 in the library e-classroom. The workshop will focus on a variety of ready-made methods of course assessment, many of which would be suitable for SoTL projects.
You are also more than welcome to discuss ideas and plans with Julie Gilbert (firstname.lastname@example.org x7552) or Margaret Bloch Qazi (email@example.com / x6287).
