Mini Grant Opportunities
Tuesday, August 23, 2005 (Around 9 years ago)
We are approaching the end of our second Bush Foundation grant. Funds are currently available for faculty, as individuals or as departments, to work on projects related to student learning. We encourage you to take advantage of the programs that it has funded, including:
Individual Mini-Grants Individual mini-grants provide a direct means of enabling faculty to bring workshop innovations into the classroom. You are encouraged to identify the ways in which these opportunities are interrelated, ultimately resulting in enhanced student learning.
Departmental Mini-Grants Faculty development grants supporting departmental initiatives enable a department to work as a group to enhance course offerings, hone teaching methods, cultivate student learning, and, as appropriate, facilitate department member’s research and creativity pursuits towards improving student learning. The department grant program, reflecting the emerging recognition that disciplines have some unique developmental needs, envisions a department reflecting upon its requirements and identifying ways to addess those needs.
Mid-Career and Senior Faculty Mini-Grants These grants are specifically earmarked for mid-career faculty who have at least 15 years of full-time college teaching and senior faculty who have at least 20 years. These grants are designed for faculty who are “changing directions”, and thus may be used for attendance at pedagogy conferences, equipment, or software, books, tuition at another institution, and schorlarly or creative projects that will improve student learning.
Global Faculty Program The Gustavus Global Faculty Program brings Gustavus students into conversation with outstanding scientists, artists, scholars, authors, teachers and other professionals from around the world. For up to one semester, students in classes at Gustavus engage in discussion, ask questions, and share opservations via the Internet with “Global Faculty”.
