  • County Health Rankings

    Provides county health rankings for each state. The County Health Rankings are a component of the Mobilizing Action Toward Community Health (MATCH) project, a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

    • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

      The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting public health activities in the United States. For statistics, go to Data & Statistics, click More Data & Statistics, then click FastStats A to Z.
    • CDC Wonder
      http://wonder.cdc.gov/

      Provides statistics collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Subjects covered include natality, mortality, AIDS, cancer, etc.
    • FDsys
      http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/

      From the Government Printing Office, the Federal Digital System (FDsys) is a portal for federal publications of all types. A similar official portal to government information, more oriented to a popular audience, is USA.gov. FDsys will replace GPO Access as the GPO's official system of record in 2011.
    • FedStats
      http://www.fedstats.gov/

      A portal for all sorts of statistical data from federal Web sites. To search for Minnesota data: Select Minnesota from the menu under "MapStats" for state statistics; you may also limit by Minnesota county or city.
    • Food Environment Atlas
      http://ers.usda.gov/foodatlas/

      From the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this site provides county-level statistics on food choices, health and well-being, and community characteristics.
    • Health, United States
      http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/hus.htm

      Annual report on trends in health statistics. Published by the National Center for Health Statistics.
    • Healthy People 2010
      http://www.healthypeople.gov/

      A statement of national health objectives designed to identify the most significant preventable threats to health and to establish national goals to reduce these threats.
    • Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report
      http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/

      The CDC's primary vehicle for scientific publication of public health information and recommendations. The data in the weekly MMWR are provisional, based on weekly reports to CDC by state health departments.
    • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
      http://www.nih.gov/

      Part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the NIH is the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research.
    • Statistical Abstract of the United States
      http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/

      This is perhaps the single most useful small package of statistical information available. It includes hundreds of tables of figures on population, economics, social factors, etc., with references to the original sources. An index to the tables provide essay access. A web version can be found at Census.gov.

    • U.S. Department of Agriculture

      The mission of the Department of Agriculture is to provide leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, and related issues based on sound public policy, the best available science, and efficient management. You may browse the site by subject or enter a keyword search.
    • U.S. Department of Education
      http://www.ed.gov/

      The Department of Education's mission is to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access. Website includes education research and statistics.
    • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
      http://www.hhs.gov/

      The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is the principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.
    • USA.gov
      http://www.usa.gov/

      The U.S. government's official web portal. Includes links to online government information by topic.
