Finding Articles
  • CINAHL Plus with Full Text (Nursing)
    Provides indexing for over 3,800 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health dating back to 1937; includes full text for more than 750 of those journals. Also includes Evidence-Based Care Sheets.

  • Health Source - Nursing/Academic Edition
    This database provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. It also features the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names. Access is provided by the Electronic Library for Minnesota (ELM).
  • MEDLINE
    The National Library of Medicine's index to scholarly literature in medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine and the health care system, from 1994-present. MEDLINE links to the ProQuest interface; this database can also be searched through the NLM's free PubMed web interface.
  • PubMed
    The primary source for scholarly information in the health sciences. This database is provided by the National Library of Medicine and indexes scholarly literature in medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. Many links to full text are included for articles older than six months. Most of this database may also be searched in the ProQuest interface as MEDLINE.

Provides information on Diseases & Conditions, Healthy Living, and Data & Statistics.
  • Dietary Guidelines for Americans
    Published jointly every 5 years since 1980 by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Guidelines provide authoritative advice for people two years and older about how good dietary habits can promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases. They serve as the basis for Federal food and nutrition education programs.

    Annual report on trends in health statistics. Published by the National Center for Health Statistics.
  • Medline Plus
    A consumer website full of reliable information for non-specialists prepared by the National Library of Medicine.
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
    Part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the NIH is the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research.
  • Nutrition.gov
    A portal to government information on nutrition, food safety, dietary guidelines, and more.
  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
    The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is the principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.
