ABSTRACT:
The Bernard Hoogenboom collection consists of grade books, research papers and student grade books.  Grade books range in date from 1958 to 1995.  The majority of student research papers were written during the 1960s with a handful from the 1970s and 1980s.


BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

Dr. Bernard Hoogenboom, Professor Emeritus of Chemistry, worked at Gustavus Adolphus College from 1958-1996.  He earned his B.A. from DePauw University in Indiana, and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the State University of Iowa.  In 1963, he received a $8,500 grant from the National Science Foundation for support of undergraduate research in chemistry and for the purchase of automatic balances to enlarge the rapid weighting facilities in the Nobel Hall of Science at Gustavus Adolphus College.


SCOPE AND CONTENT:
This collection consists of three series: Grade books, student research files, and miscellaneous.

  • Grade books, 1958-1995 and undated: This series contains grades from students of Bernard Hoogenboom.
  • Student research files, 1964-1987 and undated: This series contains student research papers.
  • Miscellaneous: This series contains notes for research papers and a proposal for a research paper by Joyce Tesarek, David Teute, Marcia Lindahl, and Braun Mueller.
