Competitive Travel Grant

Kendall Center

Competitive travel grants of up to $1,000 will be available to all faculty who are tenured, tenure-track, and those who have continuing instructor status. This money will be additional money on top of the normal allocation available to individual faculty members (depending on whether they are presenting/attending a national/international conference). Faculty are expected use up their regular travel funds first and then the competitive travel grant funds will be used. This will cover any meeting, conference, or workshop that occurs in the period of June 1, 2022 - May 31, 2023.

A committee consisting of the director of KCEL, 2 faculty associates from KCEL, and 2 members of the faculty development committee will evaluate the applications. The applications are due March 23 and decisions will be communicated to faculty by April 13.

The most important factors in the committee's consideration of the applications will be the importance of the meeting, conference, or workshop within your discipline; a detailed but accessible description of the applicant’s participation in the meeting, conference, or workshop; and the applicant’s assessment of the potential significance of the meeting, conference, or workshop to their development as a scholar, artist, and/or teacher. Questions for each of these factors occur toward the end of the google form.

Regular travel funds get used first, then the competitive travel grant funds kick in.
