• Less crowded than 2.4GHz; less interference
• Higher data rates

2.4GHz

• Affected by microwaves
• Longer range than 5GHz
• Better at penetrating concrete walls and floors

How do I tell which frequency I am on?

Mac OSX

If you are using a Macintosh laptop, hold the option key while clicking the wireless icon at the top. A few lines down, under the channel listing, it will either say 5GHz or 2.4GHz.
