Make a disk image with Disk Utility
- Open the Applications folder and find Disk Utility inside the Utilities folder.
- Applications->Utilites->Disk Utility
- Put the disk you want to make a disk image of into the computer.
- On the left column of Disk Utility there should be a DVD/CD icon with the name of the manufacturer of the drive next to it. Your DVD should should show up indented below that. Click to select it.
- If the DVD doesn't show up in Disk Utility, quitting and reopening Disk Utility usually solves the problem.
- On the top bar of Disk Utility, click New Image.
- A Save As box should appear.
- Enter the name of the DVD that it should be saved as. Try to avoid vague names.
- Save the disk image in a location in which it will be easy to find it. Try to make a folder following [clientusername - Subject of Ticket (Ticket Number) ] and place the disk image in there.
- Right above the Save/Cancel buttons there should be a place to select the Image Format, select DVD/CD master. Make sure there is no encryption and click Save.
- This will give you a file with the extension of ".cdr". For this to work with PTPublisher and almost any other program dealing with disk images, change the extension of the file to ".iso".
- Select the file, right click and select Get Info to pull the Inspector up. Navigate down to Name and Extension and change the extension to ".iso".
