Library Large Monitor Rooms
The Library Large Monitor Rooms located on the main floor of the Library, rooms 206 and 211, are two group study rooms that contain the following amenities:
- Large Screen Monitor
- Dual-Boot Mac Mini
- Two Keyboards
- Two Computer Mice
- KVM Switch (silver)
- Laptop Connection Kit
- VGA Cable (blue)
- USB Cable (black)
- Ethernet Cable (grey)
The purpose of these rooms are for group study sessions requiring the use of a community computer screen. With the dual-boot computer you can boot into your favorite operating system, and study with your classmates.
If you notice any equipment that has been damaged or you believe that it is not working correctly, please contact Technology Helpline or Gustavus Technology Services by filling out a contact form or calling 507-933-6111.
Using the Computer
- Turn the power on the large monitor by pressing the power button on the right side of the monitor. If the monitor is already illuminated, skip this step.
- On the silver KVM switch, make sure the Computer is selected by pressing on the select button so that the CPU 1 light glows.
- If you do not see a picture on the monitor, turn the computer on by pushing the small on/off button on the back of the computer.
- Please refer to the Dual-Boot Workstation Instructions to use the computer.
- When finished be sure to logout of the computer and turn off the power to the monitor.
Using the Laptop Connection Kit
- Turn the power on the large monitor by pressing the power button on the right side of the monitor. If the monitor is already illuminated, skip this step.
- Plug the available blue VGA cable and USB cable into your laptop. If your laptop does not have these connections, you will need to use an adaptor.
- On the silver KVM switch, make sure the Laptop is selected by pressing on the select button so that the CPU 2 light glows.
- If you do not see a picture on the monitor, try restarting the laptop or changing laptop’s monitor settings appropriately.
- When finished, be sure to disconnect the laptop and turn off the power to the monitor.
