Adium

Adium is a multi-protocol instant messenger client for Mac OS X.

Current version

• Adium 1.2.3 requires OS X 10.4.0 or greater.
• If you're using OS X 10.3.9, you'll want Adium 1.0.6.
• If you're using OS X 10.2, you'll want Adium 0.89.1.

Configure accounts

Jabber

To configure Adium to use your Jabber account, please do the following:

1. Choose Preferences under the Adium menu
2. Click on Accounts
3. Click the (+) to add the Jabber account.
4. Choose Jabber
5. Type in your Gustavus username (your e-mail address without the @gustavus.edu part) for the screen name and your e-mail password for the Password.
6. Click on Automatically connect on launch
7. Under the Options bar, type in jabber.gac.edu in the Connect Server field.
8. Click Ok.
9. To turn ON/OFF the account, check the box next to the account in the accounts menu.
10. To make changes to the account, click the account and then click the edit button.

AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)

To configure Adium to use your AOL Instant Messenger account, please do the following:

1. Choose Preferences under the Adium menu.
2. Click on Accounts.
3. Click the (+) to add the AOL Instant Messenger account.
4. Type in your AOL account screen name and password for that account.
5. Check the box in the menu, if you would like it to automatically connect.
6. To turn ON/OFF the account, check the box next to the account in the accounts menu.
7. To make changes to the account, click the account and then click the edit button.

MSN Messenger

To configure Adium to use your MSN Messenger account, please do the following:

1. Choose Preferences under the Adium menu.
2. Click on Accounts.
3. Click the (+) to add the MSN Messenger account.
4. Type in your MSN passport (e.g. Hotmail email address) and your password for the account.
5. Check the box if you would like this account to launch this account automatically.
6. If you would like to change your display name, click on the Personal menu button and type in your display name that you want to appear to your contacts.
7. To turn ON/OFF the account, check the box next to the account in the accounts menu.
8. To make changes to the account, click the account and then click the edit button.

GoogleTalk

To configure Adium to use your GoogleTalk (Gmail chat) account, please do the following:

1. Choose Preferences under the Adium menu.
2. Click on Accounts.
3. Click the (+) to add the Google Talk.
4. Type in your GoogleTalk account username (e.g. username of your GMail account) and your password for the account.
5. Check the box if you would like this account to launch this account automatically.
6. Under the Options Menu

Connect Server: talk.google.com

Resource: Adium

Port: 5222

Security: Make sure Use TLS encryption

1. To turn ON/OFF the account, check the box next to the account in the accounts menu.
2. To make changes to the account, click the account and then click the edit button.

Yahoo! Instant Messenger

To configure Adium to use your Yahoo! Instant Messenger account, please do the following:

1. Choose Preferences under the Adium menu.
2. Click on Accounts.
3. Click the (+) to add the Yahoo! Instant Messenger account.
4. Type in Yahoo! ID and password for that account.
5. Check the box if you want this to automatically log in on startup.
6. Click OK.
7. To turn ON/OFF the account, check the box next to the account in the accounts menu.
8. To make changes to the account, click the account and then click the edit button.
