Waste & Recycling - Data current through October 2022

Gustavus encourages responsible use and reuse of our natural resources. Proper recycling of materials is managed by the Grounds Shop along with student worker assistants.

Since August 2020, 19 locations have recycled 77 ton(s) of recyclable materials. These efforts conserved the following resources:
- 340 Mature Trees were Saved - Representing enough saved timber resources to produce 4.21M sheets of newspaper!
- 204 Cubic Yards of Landfill Airspace - Representing enough airspace to fulfill the disposal needs for 261.99 people for one year!
- 221,693 Kw-Hrs of Electricity - Enough power to fulfill the annual electricity needs of 18.47 homes!
- Avoided 160 Metric Tons (M2CO2E) of GHG Emissions - Your recycling has prevented these emissions!
- 202,312 Gallons of Water - Representing enough fresh water to meet the needs of 2.7k people!
